And here is a report on their August event, courtesy of John Walton :

Hants and Surrey branch joined the growing list of branches and clubs returning after 17 months away when they met on the 8th of August. The attendance in the low twenties was a little down on pre-lockdown days –but there was great enthusiasm from those who did turn out in appalling weather. Does anybody recall whether it rained on St Swithuns Day? We actively encouraged COVID compliance, including the fact that masks were worn everywhere except for when eating and drinking; and dealer tables were very busy. Eventually Keith Johnson and Roger Whichelow, looking like veteran Buzz Lightyears, presided over the bring and buy auction. It was very sad to reflect that three of our prominent members had passed away, and that Bill Blount, well known Normandy Veteran, had moved to a Nursing Home. Well, unless there is a serious deterioration in the COVID situation we are hoping to have our next all day event on Sunday October 31. Our next Postal Auction Catalogue was circulated with the next printed issue of “Card World”, bidding closes on November 5th, and the lots will be available for viewing, on, request, at that October Fair.

Graham Wright, Club Treasurer

Our Northampton Cigarette & Card Club opened their doors recently for the first time in almost two years, but we are glad to say that not much has changed – their meetings are staying the same as before they went away, that`s the first Monday in the month, unless its bank holiday, and they still run from 6 – 9 pm. Their final 2012 meetings are on November 1st and December 6th. Visiting dealers have been booked for each of these, so why not nip along to the Weston Favell Parish Hall, Booth Lane South, Northampton, NN3 3EP. Like all our Branches and Clubs, new members will be made very welcome. Their club webpage is https://card-world.co.uk/northampton/

The Kent Card Club will return to Crofton Halls, Crofton Lane, Orpington BR6 8PR on Thursday 4th November, doors opening at 4pm. Their December meeting will be their Grand Christmas Event, so this will take place on a Saturday. that will be the 11th December, but the opening times, along with more details, are still to be confirmed.

.Winchester and Solent Branch are holding an all day fair and auction from 10 am on the 7th of November at Botley Market Hall, High Street, Botley, near Southampton SO30 2EA. Originally built in 1850, this hall is right in the centre of the village, and has a car park to the rear. It was refurbished in 2012 to give full access to all areas, it even has a stairlift! Here is a report from their first meeting:

We met for the first time in 17 months at Botley on Sunday 1st August and were very pleased with the level of attendance. Hopefully this will continue in September. Below are the details of our meeting dates for the next 12 months and we would like to confirm that meetings are normally held between 2 and 4 pm, with the exception of our ’All Day’ events in November and May, which commence at 10am.

2021 – November 7th, December 5th

2022 – January 2nd, February 6th, March 6th, April 3rd, May 1st (our Spring Rally), June 5th, July 3rd. August 7th

North East Branch will be steaming into town again at 6.30 pm on Thursday, 11th November, and this time they have Paul Lynch as Guest Dealer. They meet at Dunston U.T.S. Stadium, Wellington Road, Dunston, Gateshead, NE11 9JL.

The London Branch warmly welcomes you to their next meeting on Thursday 15th November – its at “The Carpenters Arms” 12, Seymour Place, Marble Arch, Central London W1E 7NE – its a five minute walk from the Marble Arch Underground Station (on the Central Line, inside Travelcard Zone 1) So if you work in London, or have been down there pre-Christmas shopping, or day tripping, why not extend your time in our Capital City and have a quick browse of the dealers, or pick up a few keenly priced lots from the regular auction? This is a very friendly Branch and they welcome new faces. Now this is the last ordinary meeting of the year, as on Thursday 16th December they invite you to the seasonal delight which is their Christmas Event – more about that nearer the time, but lets just say this is admirably combined with a trip down to see the Christmas lights. Visit their webpage at https://card-world.co.uk/london-branch/

Sussex Branch will meet next on Sunday November 28 at Chailey Parish Hall, Chailey Green Road, Chailey Green, Lewes BN8 4DA. Its on the A 275, next to the Five Bells public house.  Sussex were one of the first branches to return on July 25th following their 16 month enforced closure. That very rainy day saw one Sussex collector getting lost en route to the venue at South Chailey, but still around 20 people turned up – including several visitors whose own branches had not yet opened. There was brisk activity on the tables and a successful bring and buy auction. Society President, John Walton, described Sunday July 25 as “Cartophilic Freedom Day”, as Lea Valley Club was also being re-launched.
