Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Hulse Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 3NR
The "Card Scene" magazine calls this "A Happy Reunion", and indeed it was, but it was also our first visit to Salisbury. It reports that the event was "a warm and welcome return for dealers, collectors, and Society members, and there were plenty of smiles, and tall stories, to go around, despite a relatively small attendance."
But that does not tell of the whole story, for this was the first Convention to be held since the Covid outbreak. So it was more than wonderful to meet our friends again, though we did say that anyone attending could continue to wear masks, and there were facilities for frequent hand sanitising. Social distancing was also observed. Another effect was that there was no cafe or catering this year, only vending machines for drinks.
There were eighty tables all full of cards, albums, ephemera, etc, from around the country and around the globe, dating from the nineteenth century to today. Some of the dealers who had come out especially for the event were Paul Hart, Mike Heard, Keith Johnson, Paul Lynch, Chris Pozzetti, and John Shaw. Loddon Auctions also had a stand. Our swapping tables for modern cards also saw brisk business as well, this year we specialised in Match Attax (2009-2021), Panini Adrenalyn XL, Shoot Out, Pokemon, Sainsbury Lego, and Sainsbury Pixar Heroes. And the postal auction lots were on view for thirty minutes a day.
