26 June 2026 - Did not do much indexing of the back issues over the weekend, because I was on dog watch.
- Newsletter one, for the 13th of May, 2023, only had one set that, when I went to enter it in the gallery, was already there. That was Abdulla`s "Modern Beauties", and even when I wrote the text I knew it was already there, but I couldn`t find another card of Maureen O`Sullivan in time. But this time I was more lucky, or just know more people, and so the diary card for Wednesday, 17th May 2023 now shows her in the pith helmet she wore, so fetchingly, in "Tarzan and the Ape Man", released in 1932. That was issued by Garbaty of Germany in 1934 as part of the set entitled "Moderne Schonheitsgalerie - Folge I"
- Newsletter two, for the 6th of May, 2023, actually had two duplicate sets. The first was Millhoff`s "Famous Golfers". In the end I kept the one already recorded in the index, because that was of Bobby Jones, even though I had written the text about Cyril Walker, the unknown, who beat him to win the U.S. Open. Unfortunately, Mr. Walker only appears on one card, issued in 1926 by Spalding Athletics, and I know nobody who has that in their collection. But does a reader? And would they be prepared to share it with us, which they can do quite anonymously? If so, please get in touch with us at webmaster@card-world.co.uk
And the other one, that went in instead of the same set, but still of Harry Vardon, was from Upper Deck`s "Goodwin Champions" - base set (2011) card 133/210. So that`s been sorted.
The second duplicate is kind of sorted in that a scan has been sent across but I have not had time to do anything with it. However it will definitely be in place asap. That involves two John Player`s "Cricketers 1938", but the one of Arthur Wellard which appears in this newsletter is going to be the one which swaps, for John Player`s "Cricketers 1930".
29 June 2026 - Just added in the theme of the week solution, and the write up on all three cards.
