The cards we have used on this page have, for the most part come from one of my favourite sets, J. A. Pattrieouex`s "The English and Welsh Counties", issued in 1928 - our Card of the Day for the 26th of May 2022.

This set has a card for every county that, at that time, made up England and Wales. The main body of the card shows a local landmark, and, within the circle, is the local industry - so many of which are now very different. Within the box at the very bottom are two names, the top, in capital letters, being the County name, and the lower one being the County Town. There are two exceptions to this though, and that is London, which was never featured in the set, and Lancashire which I do not have.
